Learning to Carry the Weight

There were days when the weight of leadership felt heavier than others.

Days when decisions lingered longer than they should have. When questions followed me home. When I wondered if I had done enough—or done it right.

At first, I saw that weight as doubt. As uncertainty. As something to overcome.

Over time, I began to see it differently.

The weight wasn’t a sign that I wasn’t ready.
It was a sign that I cared.

Leadership carries responsibility. And responsibility has weight. Ignoring it doesn’t make you stronger—it makes you less aware.

What matters is how you carry it.

I learned to let the weight sharpen my preparation instead of my anxiety. To let it slow my reactions and deepen my judgment. To treat it as a reminder—not a burden.

The leaders who care feel the weight.
The ones who grow learn how to carry it well.

And that, I’ve learned, is part of becoming the leader others can rely on.
